Spring has well and truly sprung, and what better way to celebrate than with a decadently seasonal afternoon tea?

If you're getting ready to tie the knot, high tea is the perfect pre-wedding treat to enjoy with your 'maids, mum or in-laws - because there's no time like the present to start earning those brownie points!

With London's parks, squares and gardens in full bloom, there's nothing that says Spring more than fresh flowers. That's why The Royal Lancaster London has devised a Bloomin’ Brilliant Afternoon Tea, a spread inspired by the floral and botanicals of the season.

Flowers on Flour
It's a classic high tea spread with a heavy dose of floral and fresh herbs. Let's begin with the savory plates, which included quintessentially English finger sandwiches and buns. We adored the mini bouquet of home-smoked salmon roses and rich warm Tartlet of Somerset brie most.

Pretty sweet treats
However it was the pastries and sweets that truly bowled us over: freshly-plucked strawberries on a tart with sharp lime curd and baby basil, sumptuous Valhrona chocolate flower pots finished with crystallised edible violets and an Orange blossom and ginger macaron that we're still dreaming about days afterwards. The pastries were utterly delightful and indulgent; sure to satisfy the sweetest of sweet tooths.

Scones Galore
Of course an afternoon tea wouldn't be complete without scones, and the Royal Lancaster's were some of the loveliest we've tried - warm, buttery and crumbly, as they should be. As well as pots of strawberry jam and Cornish clotted cream, the serving also came with a beautifully sweet marmalade which offered a nice twist to traditional accompaniments.

So Refreshing
As you would imagine, there's a decent selection of teas to pore over, but for special occasions, we recommend paring your tea experience with Moët & Chandon Impérial Rosé Champagne. After all, one can never have too many flowers - particularly when they come in bubble form!

Verdict
Whether you're looking for an elegant activity as part of bigger hen celebrations or simply want to spend quality time with loved ones, the Royal Lancaster's Bloomin Brilliant afternoon tea lives up to its name, and then some. The generous tea is the ultimate sweet start to the season ahead.

The Bloomin' Brilliant afternoon tea is served at The Royal Lancaster's Hyde Lobby Bar from 2pm until 5.30pm, from 2 May until June 2018.

Prices start at £35 per person; £45 with a glass of Moët & Chandon Brut Champagne; and £55 with a glass of Moët & Chandon Impérial Rosé Champagne.
