The Sikh Ceremony

We has an intimate religious ceremony of 300 friends and family at Ajit Darbar Gurdwara. With years of experience modelling at wedding shows I had a pretty good vision of how my own wedding day would be.
It was a very emotional moment for us and our families and once the ceremony was complete, there were happy tears in all corners of the room. But there wasn’t too much time to dwell on ‘leaving my family’ as the reception was later in the evening. I decided to keep my lehenga on for the whole day and had my good friend and Khush?Wedding stylist Vikas Rattu restyle my dupatta to give the outfit a whole different look for the evening.

The Reception

We decided on Mahirs for our catering. From canapés for our drinks reception to the traditional three-course feast, their food was superb. We picked a six-tier cake but had Sweetcakes Cakery redesign it to match our elegant theme, and Solitaire Weddings created halo floral centrepieces, a glass platform stage and arrangements for the head table to match our theme. With Abstrakt Sounds booked for entertainment and music, the dancefloor was never empty. They created a fun party vibe with plenty of interaction with the crowd - including the epic dance off between our families! We laugh every time we think about it. Pehli Baar Dil Yun Bekarar Hua Hai was our first dance song. We wanted an old school song that would give us that warm inner glow and when we heard it.

Bride Style

As a model, I’ve been lucky enough to try on so many bridal outfits over the years. However, as soon as I saw the Ayah Couture lengha on Instagram, I knew it would be the one. I wanted a traditional look with a twist, and the red tulle on the lengha combined with the royal blue embroidery definitely gave it a modern touch.

Photos

I knew I would have Gurvir Johal shoot my special day as I’ve been following his social media for years. Micky and I trusted his expertise and were happy to follow his lead. We’re absolutely thrilled with the pictures, and were particularly impressed with his efforts during the civil ceremony. The shots he captured were definitely the most epic we could ever imagine!
