Former international law student turned social media influencer Diipa Khosla married diplomat Oleg Büller in a stunning destination wedding in Udaipur in September 2018.

She says: “We met for the first time at University. He was the very first boy I saw on my very first day, and there was a spark between us immediately. He was the president of the student body and I was a new student from India. It makes me smile, because our love story began like something out of a movie. We didn’t explore much at University as he was in his final year and I was a brand new student, but there was definitely a curiosity. Five years after the first time we spoke, he asked me out for dinner in Amsterdam. It felt like the stars has aligned. We were literally just falling in love with each other after that.

The Proposal
How did Oleg propose? He created a “Vogue India Christmas Dinner” themed event at Devigarh Palace in Udaipur. But when the day arrived, I discovered instead Oleg on knee at the end of this beautiful courtyard in this Indian palace. I was happy to skip the dinner!

Planning the Day
Quite early on, we found an amazing wedding planning company based in Udaipur to help us plan our wedding. It made such a huge difference to have local help since both our families live in Europe so couldn’t help much. However my parents helped with lots of important decisions, like the wedding menu.

Pre-wedding parties
I had a hen weekend in London with my girls, and it was amazing! We did everything from high tea at Cafe Royal to partying into the early hours at Cirque le Soir. Oleg has a somewhat rougher time at his stag weekend in the Ardennes, Belgium. It was a WW2-themed stag and he came back with some bruises… but that’s pretty much all I know about it!

The Destination Wedding Venue
Our wedding venue was an old palace in Udaipur, Hotel Fateh Garh. We fell in love with it the first time we saw it. It had 48 rooms - perfect for us as we wanted all our 100 guests to stay on the property with us. By taking all the rooms - we got to use all the venues around the hotel for free as well.

Big Day Themes
We planned each of our events to have distinct themes, along with décor and dress code, for example, we wanted the wedding ceremony to have a royal Rajasthani feel. For the reception dinner, we had a lighter, dreamier vision. Big Day décor The venue décor was managed and designed by Altair Décor. The team managed to make the whole place look exactly like our vision. I had a few entrances. I was escorted by my bridesmaids under my mother’s sari for the traditional Indian wedding ceremony. Our entrance at the dinner was even grander: Oleg and I came in to Rajasthani folk dancers and fireworks going off.
Getting Ready
My traditional wedding outfits were from Sabyasachi and the jewels were Amrapali. Oleg’s outfits were from Varun Bahl.

Bridal Beauty
I had a few peeling and radio frequency facials ahead of the Big Day. I also got my teeth whitened and followed a specially created skin care regime from Clinique. I hit the gym twice a week and ate as healthily as I could for the five months before the wedding date. We both wore Jo Malone colognes (Mimosa & Cardamom 100ml Cologne and Jasmine Sambac & Marigold 100ml Cologne) for the wedding, and the company generously scented the venue for us too with Jasmine Sambac & Marigold. I had a bridal hair and makeup team fly out to Udaipur with me for all my wedding events. Hair genius and Aveda ambassador Aamir Naveed took care of my hair, while makeup was done by M.A.C makeup artist and trainer Nisha Sirpal. My bridal beauty look changed depending on the event.

Luxury Photography and Videography
I loved Zohaib Ali’s work for a very long time, so he was my top choice for the Indian wedding. He’s calm under pressure, extremely courteous and has a knack for finding angles and catching moments that really captured the essence of the event. Muse Motion was my videography team of choice as I love their movie style.

The Wedding Reception
The reception was full of the most emotional speeches from family and friends. It was the most magical night. We had local folk dancers as entertainment for the night, plus our friends performed a 20 minute play inspired by our love story, which was hilarious.

Honeymoon
Instead of leaving all our friends and family, we took them with us on honeymoon! We went on a ‘buddymoon’ to Goa once the events were officially over. We found an amazing private resort where all of our 24 friends could all stay together."
