We know what no new movie releases means for all you movie buffs out there. But, as the anticipation to visit the halls peaks, we have some good news for you. Hold your breath cause a blockbuster film just hit the big screens. Yes, we’re talking about Wonder Woman that has finally returned to the big screen. And…… brace yourself,….. so is Steve Trevor (Wonder Woman’s love interested who died in the original film). The follow-up movie is bizarre, and even mysterious.

Directed by Patty Jenkins, the sequel to the 2017 hit was initially supposed to be released last Christmas. But after a yearlong wait, it’s final out. The newest #WW84, hero’s strong women of today on screen. And, as you begin watching the film, you will feel the pre-Covid thrill of sitting in a theatre and being drawn into the 2017 “Wonder Woman. The film stars Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as the Cheetah, Pedro Pascal as Max Lord, Robin Wright as Antiope and Connie Nielsen as Hippolyta. What’s more? Diana dons not one, but two new foes: Max Lord and the Cheetah.

Over the last few days, the new release has become the talk of town, with reviews that have raised everyone’s hopes. Wonder Woman 1984 accomplishes what we look  to movies to do – it whisks us away from our worries, erasing them with pure escapism into a charming fantasy world. With the right amount of humour, action and comedy,  #WW84 is the perfect end to 2020. Bringing together the charm and romance of superhero films with an empowering 21st century gender-flip sensibility, the movie goes from the first world war to the US in the 1980s.

Adding to the long list of positives, Wonder woman showcases the feeling of empowerment not only through a woman’s physical strength but also emotional agility. Gal Gadot, Wonder Woman herself, shared her thoughts on the women centric role the film offers, “I didn’t have the opportunity to see all of these strong female characters and now seeing it, and seeing the way it affects my daughters but also boys and men, all different types of people. It’s so powerful and so strong. I feel very, very grateful that I have the opportunity to be a part of this.”

#WW84 is a fun, nostalgic journey through the 1980s. But, when Wonder Woman’s long-lost love shows up out of nowhere, rocking a track suit, you will be left wondering, “What’s the catch?”  From a sweeping prologue in which young Diana is taught the importance of accepting defeat with grace to scenes in which Lord rants like a blood-raged tyrant from the presidential podium, full of comedy with hints of action the film lifts your spirits. So, are you ready to take a journey through Diana Prince’s next adventure?
