Rowhill Grange Hotel & Utopia Spa, Kent
Situated just beyond London in the Kent countryside, Rowhill Grange is a luxury 4 Silver Star hotel with a selection of bedroom suites and restaurants. But what really makes this place standout is its spa, named Utopia. The huge space is one of the country’s most distinctive R&R retreats thanks to the stunning Roman-inspired interiors that envelope you from the moment you stroll out from the spacious changing rooms.
The main spa area makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time to Ancient Rome; think beautiful faux frescoes, mosaic tiles and classic Roman columns, behind which sits the Jacuzzi. A mini waterfall cascades into the main pool, which has hydrotherapy jets to soothe tired muscles in the water. Utopia is the perfect spot to shrug off wed-min stress or spend a quality weekend with your ‘maids. As well as a steam room and same-sex saunas, there’s also a grand swimming pool on the upstairs level with snug nooks for lounging and relaxing. It wouldn’t be a spa without a decent treatment list, and Utopia’s includes popular Ayurvedic, Mediterranean and Asian therapies which all promise to restore your bridal glow.

The capital’s financial district may not be the most apparent place to unwind, but that was before The Ned opened in 2017 right in the heart of the square mile. The luxury hotel, which also hosts weddings, sits between some of the country’s most recognisible institutions and landmarks, so you could be forgiven for imagining its patrons as stuffy business types. One step inside and you’ll see that couldn’t be further from the truth. Style oozes from every Art Deco corner, and the place is enormous, with 250 bedrooms, ten restaurants, a roof terrace bar, two pools and a Cowshed spa. It’s here you’ll find treatments for men and women, such as the Moody massage, which uses aromatic oils to leave you in a state of unrivaled bliss. The Titanic Spa is the UK’s first established Eco-Spa and has its own natural water source, found 100m below the ground, which provides fresh drinking water and water for the hotel and spa treatments. Of all the public spa experiences, we loved the heat and ice experience most which involved sessions in the steam room, aromatherapy room, sauna and finally, the ice room - the extremes in temperatures left us feeling wide-awake and fully rejuvenated. There are also a range of therapies to soothe sore muscles and leave you feeling revived. Book a massage before dining at the spa’s Bistro before bed.
