"I met Vin on a random night out in a bar in Angel, Islington. I was at the bar getting a round in when Vin strode over and confidently began chatting to me. We got on incredibly well and that night just flew past; we swapped numbers and had our first date a couple of weeks later at a lovely Thai restaurant in Stoke Newington.

After dating for a year, we decided to take the plunge and move to Zurich in Switzerland. Life passed by happily and it was while we were on a hiking holiday in Kenya two years later that Vin took the opportunity to propose. As we staggered to the top of Mount Kenya, Vin got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife as I stood there covered in three days worth of sweat. He’d even managed to haul a bottle of champagne to the top of the mountain to celebrate. At that moment, we really did feel like we were on top of the world.

We initially looked at venues in Lake Como Italy but soon realised we wanted something a bit more special.There’s no doubt Lake Como is gorgeous, but we didn’t feel an affinity to the place, so we decided on Kenya, the place were Vin proposed."



"Our celebrations consisted of three events over a week. The pre-wedding reception was held in Nairobi and attended by 750 people. We then travelled to Kole Kole resort in Mombasa for our mehndi dinner and party on a secluded beach, followed by our actual wedding inside a mandap specially set up for us on the beach. The best part, by far, was tying the knot on a beach in the late afternoon with my groom, who arrived with his wedding entourage on quad bikes!

I walked down the altar to the sound of a violin played by my brother-in law, and my cousin very kindly offered to play the dhol for us, which made it even more special. We loved that all our friends had made the long journey out to Kenya and be part of our celebrations.

We chose the resort as it was absolutely stunning and all our guests stayed at the same location for four days, which made planning a whole lot easier. 



"Zurihsia Studios, run by Anil & Beena, caught our amazing Kenyan wedding on camera. I’d seen some of their previous work as they’d shot one of my friend’s weddings. We’re thrilled with the choice we made, and we love our pictures. Zurihsia even won an award with one of our images!

Planning a wedding, especially an international one, is super stressful. Being organised is essential and thankfully, being organised is one of Vin’s strengths. You have to accept that some things will go wrong, but take a deep breath, have a drink and just enjoy being with each other."
