Lisa Thiru married Pardeep Johal on 21st October last year. She says: “Pardeep proposed on a surprise trip to Venice after New Year. He organised a Gondola ride and we’d nearly finished our ride and were about to pass under a bridge when suddenly a banner unfurled with his proposal. I was stunned! Of course I said yes.

I began trawling the Internet for the perfect venue; it was extremely time consuming but it was an important element to get locked down quickly. One of Pardeep’s friends suggested hiring a wedding planner as it would eliminate some of the planning stress. It was the best decision we made. We found Desi Bride Dreams and their experience and personality won us over. Sharn from Desi Bride Dreams had our budget and would send across a list of two or three suitable suppliers in each category along with their proposal. It was up to us to go through this shortlist and ask Sharn additional questions. The process worked well and she didn’t let us get away with slacking! She was just what we needed!”Photography
“We had a shortlist but a quick glimpse at the work singled out Eye Jogia, their portfolio speaks volumes. Sanjay and Roshni suggested a pre-wedding shoot and it really helped us relax in front of the camera ahead of the Big Day. Our album is a cherished souvenir from the best day of our lives, and Eye Jogia captured all those memories wonderfully. We would recommend them whole-heartedly.”
Themes
“I pictured the religious ceremony with lots of pinks, pastels and flowers. Emotionally, I was fine on the day and even at the start of the wedding ceremony but it was when I hugged my mum that my eyes filled up. Eye Jogia captured that moment and all parts of the day beautifully.”
The Venue
“Our venue was a fantastic blank canvas to work with. It was huge and even though our guest number was 400 the room could accommodate 800 people. We wanted to utilize the space well.”
The Toasts
“As the bride, I decided I wanted to make a speech, despite hating public speaking. I wanted a moment to thank everyone for their support and a particular shout out to my mum who gave me everything I wanted for my Big Day without hesitation.”
Reception party
“For the reception, I had an enchanted forest theme in mind, which really came to life. For food, we started with fusion-style canapés and champagne, while dinner was a lavish sit-down affair where guests were served traditional North Indian food.

I think it really hit us that we were husband and wife at our reception. It was such an awesome moment when we walked into the room filled with all our loved ones as Mr and Mrs Johal.”
