Sharon married Satya Niravane at Guru Nanak Gurdwara on 27th May 2013.
She says: “We met when I was a student at Leicester University. Our initial introduction came through friends and while we both worked at a call centre, that’s all we were. After graduation, we crossed paths on a night out, but left before we could exchange numbers. Fate stepped in, because we bumped into each other again on another night out, and this time we swapped details.
After a couple of years of dating we went to Mexico with friends. Sat organised a treasure hunt through the hotel with the final clue leading to a lifeguard’s post on the beach. So that’s where I found him; in 31 degree heat, barefoot and on bended knee, waiting to propose. It was the perfect day."
Photography
“I discovered Zurihsia Studios online but we knew from the initial consultation that they would shoot our special day. We all hit it off immediately! At the wedding, Anil and Beena captured beautiful, natural moments without us noticing. They’ve given me memories that I’ll treasure forever.”
The Big Day
“We held our wedding at the Guru Nanak Gurdwara in Bedford. From the moment I woke up on that sunny morning, to the minute we left the reception in the evening, the day was everything I dreamed it would be.
Our reception was at the Mercure Grand Hotel Leicester. We’d seen a few venues before but once we saw the King’s Hall, we knew it was for us. It’s a space full of character that needed only a few lighting and décor touches to make it a magical reception venue.”
The Look
“My aunt is a makeup artist so she created my bridal look for the morning and Janisha Soni MUA did my evening look. I bought my bridal and pre-wedding outfits while on holiday in India. The blue and red lehenga I wore on the actual wedding day came from a designer boutique in Delhi and my reception outfit was from Seasons Mumbai. My jewellery came from Kyle’s Collection.”
The Reception
"Ushi Saund & Venue Diva decorated the main venue hall, the area where we had our champagne reception and the foyer of the venue. They were faultless. We wanted the venue décor to be classic yet glamorous, and that’s precisely what Ushi delivered.
The reception was black-tie and evening dress so it gave everyone the chance to really glam up for the party. DV Entertainments kept the dancefloor packed full of all our guests, old and young all night long.
Satya and I couldn’t decide on one first song, so we had two!”

The Venue
“My uncle suggested Spice Nation catered the wedding, and they turned out to be an incredible choice. In fact, the reception was delayed slightly because the food was so good our guests kept having seconds! We chose a sit-down three course meal with canapés beforehand.”
