Sometimes in life the first take might be a miss, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a take two. Dia Mirza will surely agree to this. After her divorce with former husband and film producer Sahil Sangha in 2019, the Bollywood actor and environment activist has found love for the second time. The Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein star just tied the knot with Mumbai-based entrepreneur Vaibhav Rekhi. According to reports, the couple had been in a live-in relationship through the lockdown, but hadn’t publicly commented on their relationship. The news only broke out when their wedding plans were revealed by Shah Rukh Khan’s manager Pooja Dadlani, leaving her fans pleasantly surprised. Pictures prove that the star is gleaming with happiness. Last evening, on February 15, 2021, the duo formally became man and wife.
The pre-wedding party
As wedding traditions go, Mirza’s friends threw her the perfect bridal shower to kickstart the celebrations. It was a small affair in Mumbai, with elegant, minimal décor. Pristine white tones that signify the bond of love were the chosen colour palette and the ambience was complemented with dainty baby’s breath flowers. Staying true her understated elegance and poise, Mirza donned a little white dress with romantic lace for the evening. Soft, romantic make-up characterized her look to perfection. The Thappad actor's pre-wedding bash saw a number of her friends in attendance like television host Freishia B, costume designer and stylist Theia Tekchandaney, filmmaker Ananya Rane among others.

Two days after the pre-wedding party, on Monday, February 15, 2021, was the big day held at Mumbai’s plush Pali Hill vicinity in Bandra. Ahead of the wedding ceremony, Dia Mirza posted a picture of her bridal mehndi on her Instagram story. Taking the minimal route, she chose to break away from the tradition of henna up to the elbow, and kept it fuss-free with just her palm beautifully donned with paisleys and peacock designs. Their residential building’s garden was chosen as the wedding venue for the ceremony in the evening. The pair chose wedding planners Divinity Weddings and renowned wedding stylist Aashna Saran of Mumbai-based Aash Studio was behind the décor and design for the occasion. The outdoor area was decorated with extreme finesse using white and pastel pink flowers, along with a wall of candles.
The bride made her magical entrance to the long-time favourite song, ‘Din Shagan Da’ under a stunning phool ki chaddar held by close family members. Some of the rituals included a varmala ceremony, pheras and even signing the marriage contract. Mirza pick bridal outfit pick was an unexpected one—she kept her look traditional by opting for a red Benarasi sari by Raw Mango. Teamed with a lightly embellished red dupatta as a veil, her look was anything but OTT. Complementing the ensemble was a polki jewellery set by Tyaani Fine Jewellery with accents of pearls and emeralds that broke the monotony of red. The actress tied her hair in a bun covered with gajra, while the groom looked dapper in a white Raghavendra Rathore ensemble with a golden saffa.
It wasn’t long before Dia Mirza took to her social media account to share pictures from her special occasion. “Love is a full-circle that we call home. And what a miracle it is to hear its knock, open the door and be found by it. Sharing this moment of completion and joy with you… my extended family. May all puzzles find their missing pieces, may all hearts heal and may the miracle of love continue to unfold all around us,” she wrote.
With the coronavirus restrictions in place, the wedding was a private affair with only a handful of friends and family members in attendance. The 50 individual guest list also included actors Jackky Bhagnani, Smriti Khanna and Gautam Gupta. Bollywood star and the bride’s close friend Aditi Rao Hydari also shared an Instagram story of her presence at the wedding, which hinted that she participated in the fun joota chuppai ritual.
