Aishwarya Rai at Cannes 2017

After years of OMG hits and WTF misses, here's what Aishwarya wore this year

Aishwarya Rai and Cannes have history. Like, serious history. The Bollywood beauty has been walking France’s most famous red carpet for 15 years and let’s face it, it hasn’t always been plain sailing.

She’s made some questionable sartorial choices; cast your mind back to 2004’s breasty cut out gown. Or the mumsy non-starter (Armani, would you believe?) of 2005. Who could forget last year’s floral bandeau headache, paired with a bewildering matte lilac lip. Cue a worldwide face-palm.

But some years she’s had the fashion police eating out of the palm of her hand.

Here are the looks we loved plus her top looks for 2017:
Making our hearts sing in a Neeta Lulla canary yellow sari at the premier of Devdas.

Shining brighter than the Koh-i-Noor.

A resounding Yes! in bridal white with a Roberto Cavalli peacock gown. Accessories, minimal: box clutch, earrings and dashing husband in matching whites.

Stay golden, Aish

This monochrome Ralph & Russo gown is everything.

Her first gown of choice - a frilly green number by Yanina Couture - divided the Internet. Teaming the look with gold Casadei heels and sparkle courtesy of Swarovski, the L’Oréal Paris ambassador looks hella confident as she gets ready to rock Cannes for her 16th year.

Stop everything. Aishwarya proves she’s still the belle of the ball in this stunning powder blue gown by Michael Cinco. The voluminous dress with a sweetheart, off-the-shoulder neckline completely flatters her figure, drawing the eye to her teeny waist. Brides, bookmark this look for your reception and prepare to blow your guests away.

While the rest of us were recovering from her first red carpet appearance, Queen Aishwarya was straightening her crown and preparing to knock us for six once again. This time, she matched the carpet and strode in encased in a perfectly red Ralph & Russo gown with a fitted bodice and tiered skirt leaving the crowd (and us) breathless.

Aishwarya, after this, we forgive all. Even the lilac lip paint of last year.
