Darshika Devi married Sandeep Kumar in a religious ceremony on 28th April 2017 before flying to Hawaii for their civil on 2nd May 2017. She says: “Social media is used for so many things, but who’d have thought our love story would start by a simple friend request on Facebook? We chatted before meeting for coffee and realised we had each met the love of our lives.

Since then we’ve been insperable. Sandeep took me to Mumbai for my birthday. We stayed at the Taj Mahal hotel, right opposite the Gateway of India. Little did I know that’s where he planned to propose! He asked me to be his wife. I was thrilled!”

The Mehndi
“I wore a pink and green lehenga from Ekta Solanki with flower jewellery by Zareen from Bridal Flower Jewellery. We had a buffet service by Savera Foods - everyone loved the food! ”

The Details
Venue

“I always dreamed of a traditional temple wedding at Bhaktivedanta Manor. It has a two year waiting list, so we were very lucky to secure our date.”

The night before
“I stayed at the Laura Ashley Hotel, close to the venue. The mock Tudor building offered plenty of photo ops, especially the ‘Getting Ready’ shots with my bridesmaids!”

The Lehenga
“I didn’t want to wear red, but still wanted that regal bridal look, so I had a lehenga designed in white. I also wore Creed Love in White and Jimmy Choo. Sandeep’s outfit came from Ahsans Menswear - I designed his look to complement mine so there were pearl accents and a rose gold pagh.”

Hair & Makeup
“Ambreen Ahmed is one of my best friends, so she did my makeup while Aamir Naveed styled my hair.”

Jewellery
“I wanted traditional jewels against my all-white lehenga so I turned to Red Dot. I created my own bridal set; two necklaces with jhumki earrings, a large tika and delicate naath, all customised with small green and pearl accents.”

Photography
“Dash Photography was our photographer. We visited the temple with Shivraj to scout shoot spots in advance.”“We officially tied the knot in a civil ceremony on Makena Cove Beach, Maui, just the two of us. We always wanted a beach wedding, but it was impossible as we both have big families. Instead of a reception we flew to Hawaii after the Indian ceremony.”

We got maui-d!
“As it’s so far away, we found a Hawaiian wedding planning service and organised the day with them on the phone and email. I wore a white ASOS Bridal dress and had our photographer take ‘Trash the Dress’ pictures afterwards.
There’s something very special about a morning wedding in Hawaii. The ocean is calm and the sand is cool on the toes. It was the perfect time for us to exchange our vows.”
