In case you missed it, Indian television and Bollywood star Mouni Roy tied the knot with Dubai-based businessman Suraj Nambiar in a lavish celebration at Hilton Goa Resort on January, 27, 2022. According to sources, the duo met in Dubai in 2019, which ignited their love story. After almost two years of dating one another, the couple decided to get married amongst friends and family in attendance.
The newly-weds had not made any official statement about their relationship, it was only a few hours before the wedding functions that Mouni shared a post of Suraj on social media, with a heart-felt caption: "Everything #HariOm. Om Namah Shivay."
The dreamy wedding took place at the gorgeous property of Hilton Goa Resort. Spotted at the function was Mouni's school friend and actor Mandira Bedi, music composer duo Meet Brothers and also film producer Vanessa Walia. Since Mouni started her career in the television industry, a number of television actors were part of the festivities too, including Arjun Bijlani, Aamna Sharif and Aashka Goradia amongst others. Kickstarting the festivities was the couples haldi function on Day 1, for which Mouni wore a white lehenga with a strappy kurta with floral jewellery.
Mouni was spotted in a gorgeous yellow lehenga by Payal Singhal for the mehndi. The lehenga featured silver tassels and zardozi embroidery on the backless choli. Opting for a comfortable and fashionable look, she prioritized comfort over a heavily embellished lehenga. Leaving her tresses open the jewellery added just the right amount of glam.
Staying true to their roots, the couple opted to have two wedding ceremonies, one Malayalam wedding and one traditional Bengali phera ceremony. For the south Indian nuptials, Mouni opted for a traditional white and red silk Garad silk sari and authentic temple jewellery that depicts the culture and heritage of south India, while Suraj complemented her in a cream and gold kurta.
For the Bengali pheras, Mouni opted for a traditional red lehenga by Kolkata-based designer, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, and looked gorgeous as always. Breaking the red was the embroidery featuring large motifs in gold and polki and emerald jewellery. She opted for a classic bun and shimmer smokey eyes to complete the look. Suraj looked dapper in a cream sherwani.
Following the wedding was a sangeet night full of dancing and fun. Mouni, who is known for her impeccable dancing skills, was spotted grooving to the beats of the music with her husband Suraj and friends on the song ‘Desi Girl’. She also did a solo performance on Kailash Kher’s Teri Deewani. Opting for a statement gold Falguni Shane Peacock lehenga for the occasion, she looked straight out of a fairy-tale. Her soft waves and traditional jewellery added immensely to bring the look together. A fun pool party ended the celebrations. We congratulate the couple and wish them a happily-ever-after!
