The mesmerizing collection interpreted ‘Define to Redefine’, birthed in the expanse of vast oceans. Gupta's creations took inspiration from the aquatic life, coral, the jellyfish and the fantasy creatures that were brought to life with fabrics made of crisps and biscuits, plastic bottles and other daily consumables that have been excavated from oceans and landfills.
Bringing together couture with sustainability, the collection featured the brand’s signature ballgowns and formal dresses for women with 3-D detailing. While well-tailored pantsuits with playful prints, and sequined bomber jackets were spotted on the runway for men. “91% of plastic isn't recycled and millions of tons of plastic ends up becoming trash and litter, eventually ending up in the ocean. Through the collection, we aim to minimise our waste and take a step towards a relatively sustainable fashionscape,” shared the designer on Instagram. Ranging from bright red to subtle tones of white, cream and ivory, the collection was a fantastical dream with opulence.
Adding to the majestic appeal of the show was the showstopper Kareena Kapoor Khan who took our breath away. Returning to the runway for the first time after the birth of her second child, the actor donned a pristine white ball gown with gold detailing. The ensemble brought together fluidity and structure leaving us all in awe.
