Produced by Lang Fisher and Mindy Kaling, season one revolved around the life of Devi Vishwakumar (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan), a first-generation Indian-American whose ultimate quest is to be cool, and she thinks her ticket to popularity is losing her virginity. The show traces how the young teen navigates her high school life, love life and relationship with her two best friends. Devi climbs the social ladder by going after the hottest boy in school, Paxton Hall-Yoshida. Ending the season at a cliff hanger was the moment when Devi kissed Ben (her former enemy) along with her plans to move to India. In between all of Devi’s relationship woes: should she date Ben, Paxton or both? Will her friends become popular and will she make thing right with everyone around her? Season two follows Devi from where it left off in the first series—with her succeeding in getting attention from Paxton.
In season two, Devi is caught between her high school drama where gets in and out of trouble with charm, good fortune, and soul-searching. What’s more to watch out for? Devi’s irritational behaviour gets amplified, and her life takes a crazy turn when her two-timing the boys blows up in her face. And a spoiler for you—supermodel Gigi Hadid chips in this season as a guest voiceover in one of the episodes. Never Have I Ever season two is where things get all kinds of crazy.
An-easy binge watch, the season not only traces Devi’s likeable charm and moments of crazy, but also introduces new characters like her grandmother and Aneesa who plays catalyst for Devi’s maturing. Her mother Nalini (played by talented actor Poorna Jagannathan) continues to be the soul of the show with her best lines. We can say that season 2 is delightful, funny and as relatable as season 1. The new season continues to bring the perfect blend of heart and humour.
Who will she end up with at the end of season 2? It’s time to binge-watch the show and stock up on our weekly dose of teenage drama!
