The Love Story
Set in the town of Harpenden, Prit and Amandeep’s love story is a classic one. All it took was one date for them to fall in love but they took the steps to build a strong friendship before diving into commitment. “I feel that building that solid friendship first is important because above all he is my best friend,” says the blushing bride.
The Mayan
With an idea to keep it intimate, the bride took this event as an opportunity to reminisce over memories of family members who were lost over the years. “It was just my immediate family and we just had some fun. My brothers and sisters definitely got me good with the mayan!” The event was a casual affair that ended with pizza over relaxed conversations. The bride’s vision to embrace her Punjabi roots and culture with a touch of English affair was fulfilled.
The Sangeet
Hosted in the back garden of the bride’s home, the jago event’s décor was inspired by a village style setup. “We wanted to bring the procession from down the street. So, in a predominantly white area that was very interesting for the neighbours to see. We were loud and proud!”
The Civil Ceremony
Incorporating minute details in the wedding preparation, the couple chose the local St. Albans Registry Office for the civil ceremony as it was where the bride’s parents were married. “I wanted it to be with our nearest and dearest,” says Prit who truly embraced the beauty of keeping it personal. After the intimate ceremony, the family enjoyed lunch in the garden of their home. The couple decided to host their civil and reception on separate days.
The Anand Karaj
On a beautiful day in September 10, 2021, the couple performed their traditional Sikh wedding ceremony at the Guru Nanak Gurdwara Temple in Bedford. “I wanted to keep it simple and just had some fresh flowers.” The bride made sure to involve both her brothers and sisters in the rituals.
The Outfits
Prit fully embraced the grand traditional look of Rimple & Harpreet Narula’s designs in most of her outfits. The wedding look came together well with the statement jewellery chosen by the bride. “Maala London did a great job in pairing my wedding jewellery to suit my lehenga perfectly.”
The Reception
“I had always envisioned a garden themed reception with a marquee with a stunning backdrop and Hagley Hall provided just that!” The décor colours, number of guests and ambience was kept minimal due to COVID-19 restrictions. “It was a beautiful evening filled with dancing and laughter and a surprise performance from Channi Singh (Alaap).” Prit suggests brides-to-be to “not get caught up in every single little detail and live in the moment.”
