Abhinav Mishra’s New Collection ‘Baraat’ Is A Bridal Dream

Now, Mishra launches his Spring Couture 2021 line that spans three collections Mir, Songs of Spring and finally, Baraat.


The concluding collection ‘Baraat’—that was recently unveiled—derives its inspiration from Mishra’s love for the tradition of a baraat—one of the highlights for the groom’s side during an Indian wedding. The idea was to create a visualisation of the royal Baraat ceremony that showcases moments of magical love. Think love, laughter and lots of fun! And let’s admit it, it’s the baraatis who make way for a day of grand celebration and a union of two souls.

Celebrating the grand affair, the mesmerising collection compromises lehengas, shararas, voluminous skirts with peplum tops and an array of embroidered kurtas for men. The collection stands out through an ethereal colour palette of golds and ivories, intricately strewn with their signature mirror work.

‘Mir’ is all about a lively bustle, with a burst of colours making it a treat for the senses. The collection reflects the magical mania of the mela or local fair from a bygone era with elements of India, Turkey, Afghanistan and Iran.  Vibrant hues reimagine the brimming baskets of kesar, mirch and haldi and intricate designs bring to life the magnificent mayhem of this iconic marketplace. Just like the name suggests, ‘Songs of Spring’ is all about the feeling of spring - think pastel tones, the sweet smell of Ice cream cones, buzzing bees, and flowers in full bloom. The creations reflect a canvas splattered with a bright splash of colour and iridescent mirror work with effortless Indian silhouettes. Hues like dreamy majorelle blues, luscious ruby reds and sprightly yellows characterise the colour palette. Traditional mirror work and gota patti detailing showcase traditional Indian craftsmanship and silhouettes.
