Burgundy, teal green, Prussian blue and black were splashed with rich gold embellishments on the timeless brocades from Benares along with pure silks and tulles. The beauty of the outfits was further enhanced with intricate pleating, quilting and detailed appliqués. From classic straight cut kurtas to peplum lehenga sets in subtle tones and royal lehengas featuring rich brocades, the line-up for womenswear was a confluence of Indian and Western sensibilities. The surface ornamentation for the ensembles featured artworks that were positioned creatively to match the silhouettes, as the many motifs flowed effortlessly over seams. The beauty of Benares was the perfect backdrop for the fashion film as the models glided through the magical city.



For menswear, it was the classic sherwani with tonal texturing with a subtle glitter, while the Nehru waistcoats maintained the traditional silhouette but had a marked formal appeal. With impeccable cuts, tailoring and timeless pieces, Abhishek Gupta’s Benares collection offered traditional glory blended with a modern viewpoint, at its finest.

The 'Homecoming' collection creates an ethereal experience, as each ensemble weaves in the designer's feeling of returning to his roots with traditional motifs and the label’s signature techniques.

Talking about his collection, designer Abhishek Gupta said, “A weaving together of heritage and culture with modern cutting and tailoring, with highly engineered garments that look moulded to the body is the new direction for Abhishek Gupta Benaras.”
