As the year draws to a close, it's time to look back at the key moments of 2021. And 2021 saw the return of the wedding season across the globe. With celebrations in full swing, it only mean one thing, brides have been on the lookout for inspiration for their wedding wardrobe. Naturally, celebrities were a huge source of inspiration. The likes of Ariana Grande, Gwen Stefani, Katrina Kaif, Lily Collins, Dia Mirza and Rhea Kapoor were among the many Hollywood and Bollywood celebrities that tied the knot in 2021.
According to new research by photographic and printing experts Printique who analysed Google search data, this year Hailey Bieber beat Ariana Grande for the most Googled celebrity wedding dress with 37,000 global monthly searches. Formerly known as Hailey Baldwin, she married musician Justin Bieber on September 13, 2018, but they celebrated with friends and family in South Carolina on 30 September 2019. She looked ethereal in a custom-made lace gown by Off-White for the official wedding ceremony in 2019, and hence it's no surprise that she's secured the top spot. This year the duo celebrated their third wedding anniversary.
Priyanka Chopra’s wedding dress is the second most popular, with 25,000 monthly searches. Priyanka married singer Nick Jonas in a three-day celebration in December 2018 that combined both Hindu and Christian marriage traditions. During the Christian ceremony, Chopra wore a white high-neck custom Ralph Lauren gown, accompanied by a 75-foot veil. For the Hindu ceremony the next day, Chopra wore a traditional red lehenga by Indian designer Sabyasachi.
The celebrity with the third most popular wedding dress is Ariana Grande. The singer’s custom Vera Wang Haute gown raked in 24,000 monthly searches and her wedding pictures with groom Dalton Gomez became one of the most-liked Instagram posts of all time, with more than 26 million likes.
Other celebrities who made it to the top 10 list of most Googled celebrity wedding dresses are Gwen Stefani with 22,000 searches, followed by Kim Kardashian with 14,000 who tied the knot with now soon-to-be ex-husband Kanye West in their fairy-tale Florence wedding in 2014, wearing a custom lace Givenchy gown. Gal Gadot with 5,800, Beyoncé with 5,500, Cynthia Bailey with 4,900, Angelina Jolie with 4,600 and Blake Lively with 3,200. (Source: www.printique.com)
Commenting on the study, a spokesperson for Printique said: “Throughout history, both the public and the media have been fascinated with the extravagant nature of celebrity weddings, so it’s no surprise to see high search volumes for the most famous celebrity wedding gowns."
