Mishru opened Day 4 of the winter/festive 2021 Lakmé Fashion Week with ethereal Indian wear perfect for brides and wedding guests. When it comes to glamour and style, the label by Swapna Anumolu excels at creating the most exciting looks for the fashionable dresser. 'Eternal Summer’ was a great fashionable repertoire of delicate, detailing and glamour. The collection focused on creating surfaces that have a natural harmony to them. Anumolu treasures colour, and worked closely with artisans to conceptualise new colour gradients that have been rendered in silk thread. The prismatic colour dynamics of these multi-floral surfaces is what makes this collection so exciting.

Taking a complete turn, for Nikita Mhaisalkar, abstract strokes, defined geometry and bold stripes took centre stage. ‘Canvas’ was all about celebrating one’s innate organic artistry. The very glam resort wear line had a marked defined geometry as well as lineal accents. Mhaisalkar made her colour selection from a palette of lilac, magenta, aubergine and coffee. To offer the striking embroidery and prints of trompe L’oeil an eye-catching pizzazz, she added on a great diversion, which was in the form of zardozi, raffia and baroque embroidery that brought great sartorial value to the ensembles. The collection saw a mix of co-ordinated sets, coats and trenches in custom-made prints.

This edition not only marks Shruti Sancheti's 10-year milestone at Lakmé Fashion Week, but also her first-ever digital showcase. This season witnesses the wanderlust dream unfold as the designer presents a fascinating collection inspired by maverick women, unorthodox and fearless. Featuring relaxed styles and easy silhouettes mixed with boho tiered dresses, midis and co-ord sets, ‘Maverick Travel’ is perfect for the free-spirited woman. Fierce and bold with a diverse colour palette of vibrant colours like canary and Prussian blue and pastels like lilacs, powder pinks and greens, these versatile garments are bright and fresh.

Samant Chauhan's ‘Strawberry Thief’ is inspired by the textiles designed and produced by the 20th century British Socialist textile designer, William Morris. His designs have borrowed elements from Morris' work; there is a blend of geometrical abstractions, symmetry and embroideries. Chauhan exclusively crafted the mesmerizing prints and embellishments for the ensembles, which will be an ideal choice at fashionable soirées. Rows of beautiful embroidery embellished the stark, white panelled gowns, some with intricately worked bodices.

Pankaj and Nidhi's collection was inspired by the beautiful scenescapes of the Amalfi coastline in the South of Italy. Revolving around a youthful vibe, the collection was aimed at the trendy, culture-conscious buyer who cares for earth’s resources. A soothing colour palette of coral pinks, terracotta orange, sapphire, sea green; lends a playful touch to the flowing silhouettes of tiered skirts and billowing sleeved blouses, all coming together to create a line-up that evokes wanderlust. It brought forth a happy feeling, which the buyer will long for when seeking happy spaces to travel, live, work and play.

‘Earth Song’ by Payal Jain is a lyrical tribute to our planet. Payal Jain and Wildlife Trust of India came together with a common goal of creating awareness about the fast vanishing forests and wildlife. It was a creative rhapsody of colours, natural yarns, hand woven fabrics, and a mélange of animal inspired prints that came together in perfect harmony to match the theme of the collection. Hand-stitched Shibori, tie-dye techniques and over-sized motifs inspired from the forest, depicting the vast beauty of nature.
