KAFTAN FESTIVAL 2015

Westfield London White City played host to the inaugural Kaftan Festival 2015 on Saturday 21st March 2015, carefully timed to coincide around International Women’s Day.
 
A UK first, the one-day event featured three fashion shows showing styles from the hottest new designing talent around the globe, including Usya Soeharjono (Indonesia), Shuroo Saleh Salmeen (Kuwait), May Kazma (Lebanon), Nadya Hazbunova (Palestine), Amal Al Hajri (Qatar), Maryam Fakhri (Qatar), Rasha Al Khaldi (Qatar), Balkees Al Qadheb (Saudi Arabia), Eman Benjabi (Saudi Arabia), Aisha Cabital (UAE), Farida Al Banai (UAE), Zaem Jamal (UK).
 
There was also an exhibition in the Westfield atrium close the catwalk, and featured fine art, designer jewellery and statement ornaments, amber adorned items, paintings, accessories, scarves, fashions and much more.
Meanwhile dance performances, a live band and a DJ where on hand to entertain the crowds on the day.
 
Presented by the Women’s Growth and Success Foundation (WGSF), the Kaftan Festival aims to unlock the potential of international designers by shining a spotlight on their work and allowing visitors a chance to appreciate fashion and art from across the world.
 
The Women’s Growth and Success Foundation recognises and promotes the role businesswomen play in their countries' economies. Female entrepreneurship has been increasing and becoming more visible over the last decade while women-owned businesses are contributing to economic growth and wealth creation, while also creating employment opportunities for other women.
