Costume and couture designer to the biggest Bollywood stars, Manish Malhotra is known for his extravagant Indian ensembles, especially bridalwear. Last night, on August 23, 2021, Malhotra opened FDCI’s second digital India Couture Week 2021 with a showcase of his new bridal collection 'Nooraniyat - The Bridal Edit'. Staying true to his aesthetics of grandeur and opulence, the stellar collection engulfed elegance and flamboyance in the true spirit. Celebrating traditional Indian craftsman techniques like zardozi, red was the dominant colour through the collection, while hints of cream and ivory with intricate detailing in hues of blue also made an appearance.

The collection celebrates a myriad of emotions through timeless pieces, and is enhanced with the sheer grandiosity of the signature Manish Malhotra veil with intricate zardozi, badla and modern sequins. Perfect for the modern bride, the collection blends modern silhouettes with Indian design sensibilities. The collection is developed on the ethos of tradition, but influenced by the present, the new world. Each garment proposes a new and individual visual expression and explores a possibility of a free monologue. The collection derives inspiration from the myriad of emotions associated with a bride—heart-warming yet unsettling, joy, compassion and happy tears. Staying away from trends the timeless pieces ensure traditional embroidery techniques take centre stage. Sheer dupattas used as veils and the classic colour palette of red and gold make the collection truly extravagant. Adding a royal touch to the couture pieces are the signature trails that make the line-up true bridal-glory.

For a star studded appeal, Kriti Sanon played muse to the designer in an exquisite traditional red bridal look. The heavily embellished piece featured a sweetheart neckline with pearl tassels and a sheer dupatta. Sanon oozed charm and elegance in this royal look.
