For Sonal Pandya, choosing a name for her luxury semi-precious jewellery designer brand was the easiest decision she’s ever made. “I decided to name the business after my beautiful daughter Aurora,” she shares. Her lifelong affair with jewellery began during her childhood days. “I loved watching my mother put together outfits and jewellery for festive occasions. I was the kid who always over-accessorised.” What was just a personal style preference turned into a passionate profession in 2016 as Sonal Pandya launched Aurora’s Collection. In no time, the Birmingham-based label carved a niche for itself in the UK and beyond.

In just five years, Aurora’s Collection went on to become a go-to for those on the lookout for artisanal trinkets handcrafted using traditional practices of kundan, high-quality materials and with ethical trade practises. With a strong patronage and a little bit of confidence, Sonal Pandya relaunched Aurora’s Collection in April 2021 as a multi-brand jewellery boutique. Today, Aurora’s Collection is the UK’s first south Asian multi-brand jewellery store. “There was a gap in the market—we have several multi-designer clothing stores but nothing specific for jewellery. And I wanted to bring the best brands from India to the UK to give brides and families a wide variety to curate their festive wardrobes,” she reveals.

The styling

Sonal Pandya, who is a published fashion stylist, promises a holistic consultation to every client. “Being an Aurora’s Collection bride is not just going into a jewellery store—it’s a personalised experience. We only take one-to-one appointments, and our consultations are very thorough and detailed. I get to know you, understand your vision, and create a piece that perfectly intertwines with your trousseau and your personality,” she reinstates.

The selection

Aurora’s Collection (in-store and e-commerce website) is a jewellery enthusiast’s haven. It is home to collections by some of India’s top jewellery designers including Anita Dongre, Ra-Abta by Rahul Luthra, Outhouse Jewellery, Opalina Jewellery, Aditi Bhatt and Fooljhadi. There’s also the exquisite range by Sonal Pandya’s in-house brand. “No two pieces are the same, and they resonate with the regality and luxuriousness of the Indian heritage. Our clients want to curate and gift pieces that last a lifetime,” she adds. But keeping in mind the needs of the modern bride and her entourage, she conceptualises eye-catchy creations that lend a touch of tradition while still keeping it versatile enough to be worn again by the bride on other occasions throughout her life. The array includes necklace sets, earrings, bangles, maang tikkas, bangles and even jewellery for men.
