As the mercury rises, the days get longer, the temperature warmer and weddings prettier. This time of the year is also apt for a wedding wardrobe refresh. We have compiled the top spring/summer trends with the help of Tracy Smith. The creative head behind UK-based label, The Naviya Edit shares her vision for the 2024 bride: “A bride looking to represent her love story, her personality and her style with her outfit.” She goes on to reveal the top trends.
Delicate embroidery
Pearl and glass beading embroidery will be big in 2024. If you ask me it doesn’t get any more elegant and eye-catching than pearls. Glass bead work or cutdana is just as classic and romantic. A bride who wants to go all out should consider a fully embellished lehenga for the big day. Just a pearl or glass bead embroidered blouse is great for a cocktail night with a sari or sharara pants.
Pastels and bold colours
As the temperatures rise, it will be about wearing colours in all their glory. Whether bright or soothing, I see brides wearing all sorts of shades for their summer weddings in 2024. When it comes to bright shades, rani pink, red, green and yellow are timeless, versatile and perfect for pheras. If you prefer pastels, blush pink, peach, lemon yellow, lavender and pistachio are great choices. It will just boil down to a bride’s personal style. Since we are a slow luxury contemporary wear business, we cater to made-to-order and custom outfits. So we design your bridal dreams, from what will suit your personality, fabrics, colours for the perfect occasion and embroidery that is modern.
Multi wear outfits to switch from day to night
This year versatility will be top priority. Brides no longer want outfits that can be worn just for their wedding day, but for multiple use and occasions. Moreover, outfits that can go from day to night. Since day one, this has been my vision for The Naviya Edit. Every outfit I design blends comfort, sexiness and affordability. This is what we offer with our Maharani Collection. It’s a fusion of effortless fabrics, innovative wear, pre-drapes and modern silhouettes including lehengas, co-ords, and gowns. You can mix up your pieces by wearing your lehenga skirt with another crop top or pop on our Signature Lotus Blazer with western wear.
Easy and breezy designs
The bride of today will no compromise on comfort. If you're having a summer or destination wedding, brides will pick outfits that are not too tight or heavy. This will allow them to celebrate and dance the night away. The perfect balance of not too heavy and not too light is our mantra too. We design outfits with pockets—they make a massive difference for those candid selfie moments and lipstick top-ups.
