From chaiwala to fashionwala

If you haven’t heard the story of chaiwala and his incredible journey from tea maker to trend setter (um, where have you been?), allow us to fill you in.

Earlier this year, Pakistani photographer Jiah Ali took the below shot of a young man working on a tea stall in Islamabad. Her uploaded image quickly went viral as everyone swooned over the tea-vendor’s model good looks. I mean, those eyes! Practically overnight, he became the country’s latest celebrity and with his Insta-fame came the social media likes, shares and, inevitably, the modeling contracts.

It recently reached new heights when chaiwala, real name Arshad Khan, was booked to walk for Ziggi Menswear at one of the biggest events in the Pakistani fashion calendar – Bridal Couture Week 2016. It’s like something out of a fairytale!
