We've all seen the movies, and heard countless stories told by our friends and family - but when it comes to planning a proposal and hearing that all important 'yes!', it boils down to what works for you and your loved one.

A marriage proposal is one of the most memorable moments in your relationship, so it's only natural you want to make it absolutely perfect. To help you pick a proposal that aligns with your personalities and to give you a little inspiration, we've spoken to Real Grooms who share their personal love stories with us...

1. For Rajiv and Shreena, their love sparkled under the glowing Northern Lights

Rajiv Bathia managed to trick Shreena Ravaliya with a double bluff, after she had planned a trip to Iceland for his birthday. He says "My challenge was to get Shreena to Keflavic without giving my intentions away, and it paid off."

Rajiv explains how he knew the moment to propose had arrived. "You have to go with your gut, trust you are doing the right thing, and soak up the experience."

Although he made a grand gesture, Rajiv explains you have to do what makes you happiest as a couple. "No matter where you are, you'll be making memories, about this special day."

2. For Kanwal and Praveena, a romantic beach setting was the perfect way to pronounce their love

Kanwal Singh always knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Praveena Jayasinghe, ever since they first met. When choosing his ideal spot to drop down on one knee, he picked the white sands of South Melbourne beach.

Upon knowing she was the one, he says: "I knew it was time because Praveena has always been there for me, and makes me feel comfortable enough to be myself around her."

Kanwal set up a beautful, white archway, decorated with blue flowers. He chose a quiet beach because it was intimate and thought it would give them the privacy they needed.

His advice to other men would be: "Make sure you are comfortable with the environment. If you're nervous, I wouldn't suggest proposing in a public place".

"Words can't describe the feeling for when Praveena uttered "Yes!", it was amazing to hear the words out loud..."
