Born in the 80's, raised in the 90's; take a trip down memory lane back to a time when the most important decision you had to make was which scented gel pen to buy from Woolworths.
Little Nan's Rio Bar pop-up, in the secret vaults of Dalston's Rio Cinema, is a homage to your childhood and delivers kitsch fun to any hen extravaganza. The decor, painstakingly collected over the years by organiser and 'grandson' Tristan Scutt, is an amalgamation of every passing trend from the playground mixed in with the glass figurines and Royal Family memorabilia (we bet) your Ba hoarded in her glass cabinet.
Expect Top of the Pops collectibles, Spice Girls posters, Troll dolls and POGs nestled amongst Diana and Charles commemorative mugs, deep armchairs and leopard-print wallpaper. Celebration ocktails, full of booze or alcohol-free, have names like 'Chief Girl of Deptford' (London Dry Gin, Morello cherry syrup, lemons from Deptford market and Prosecco) and King Phil Mitchell (a mocktail of cranberry juice, lime juice, honey and soda topped with fresh sprigs of mint), all served in a huge array of novelty teapots.
There's even Smirnoff Ice, Hooch and Babycham if you really want to embrace the retro vibe, while Saturdays are for Cocktail Afternoon Tea parties, perfect for hen parties and groups. The wildly popular multi-award winning bar gets booked fast, so slots are for two hours only.
But don't worry, that's plenty of time to marvel at the kitsch detail of the venue as well as make the most of the pick 'n' mix, pose with life-size cut outs of your teenage crushes and dance to 90's anthems (GAME IDEA; everytime someone says "OMG I loved this tune!" you all have to do a shot) before you head back to the 21st Century. And if you miss the pop-up, the permanent Little Nan's Tropical Den in Peckham, south London keeps the 90's spirit alive and kicking.
In the immortal words of the Spice Girls... Say you will be there.
