Sitting on the border of the financial district and right by the Tower of London, the Four Seasons at Ten Trinity Square opened early last year after seven years of renovations. Built in roughly the same area where the Romans established Londinium, it was the continual unearthing of long-lost artefacts that hampered works. But, as we discovered when we visited the hotel, it was all well worth the wait. Housed in the former Port of London Authority, the façade exudes an elegant 1920s glamour with towering colonnades at the entrance that soar three storeys. Step inside, and you’ll be beneath the Rotunda, a stunning domed ceiling that ensures first impressions are beautiful grand. The Location With the Tower of London at its door and halfway between the east and west ends, the hotel couldn’t be better placed for a first night or weekend escape as husband and wife.
The Rooms Refined glamour is the overwhelming theme, with muted palettes, dramatic lighting and super sleek furnishings everywhere from the public spaces to the rooms and suites. Sleeping quarters are in taller-than-average rooms adding to the City luxe vibe, with dove grey details lifted by glints of polished brass. The four-poster in the Grand Heritage Suite is ludicrously plump; made for sinking into after a long day of celebrations.
The SpaThe spa’s menu honours the building’s past life as a vital trade HQ with an offering of Eastern and Western treatments. There’s a traditional Hammam, a steam room and sauna infused with the restorative power of eucalyptus and hydrotherapy in the vitality pool. Open until 9pm every day, there’s plenty of time to unwind in the treatment rooms. We tried the 90min Hot Stone Massage to ease aches and pains before a mini facial and a head massage so good it induced unconsciousness. Best to try this just before bed!
