If your weekends are packed solid with venue viewings and lehenga fittings, rebel and flee to the sunshine and sangria of Spain.
With its warm climate, omnipresent scent of orange blossom and enchanting old-world vibe, Seville is the ultimate Iberian experience. There’s always something happening; film festivals and parties throughout the autumn and winter, and parades and a fiesta in the spring.
Whenever you plan your great escape, the only place to stay is the dreamy Palacio de Villapanes. The hotel lives up to its majestic name with ornate tilework, marble pillars and soaring arches that whisper of the town’s Moorish history.
SUITE TALK
Elegant in a typically Mediterranean way, the Palacio’s rooms blend a muted palette with tasteful furnishings and the latest in tech. Expect white, wood-panelled walls, draped damask in dark neutrals alongside flat-screen TVs, iMacs and Wi-Fi thoughout.
And you can forget about extortionate mini-bar prices; they’re stocked with complimentary soft drinks and water in a refreshing change to the norm.
There are also 15 suites for those planning a particularly lavish getaway. All are lovely, but our favourite is the Sevilla suite. Spacious at 70sqm and high ceilings, it’s more like a mini apartment than a hotel suite.
THE FOOD
Seville is a foodie mecca and Palacio’s Los rincones del Marqués restaurant is one of the finest places to try the flavours of Andalusia.
Expect traditional dishes with a modern flourish, and of course there’s also a decent selection of tapas. On busier nights, you can dine on the patio to the spectacle of a Spanish guitar or flamenco dancers.
