How To Plan A Destination Wedding In 10 Months

The couple stepped into their new life together with unforgettable festivities in Seville. Dyana gives us a glimpse inside their Spanish celebrations.


The planning

“We had around 10 months to plan the 3-day wedding in Seville, Spain. I started the conversations with the groom’s sister as both bride and groom were super busy with their work. The idea was to host a Hindu wedding in the country across different venues along with Indo-Spanish themes and cuisines. Of course, the couple wanted Indian food too. While it was difficult as all Spanish venues don’t serve Indian cuisine, it was not a reason to not go ahead with it. In the end, the couple wanted to make a Hindu fiesta, which we made happen.”


The venues
“We had a thorough discussion with Yoshan and Rishana to understand their preferences, tastes and needs. We visited a few venues in Seville after the meeting as we knew what they would like. We had a lot of fun doing the research and then viewing the venues. They immediately knew the ones they wanted to confirm. Hacienda El Vizir, Hacienda Molinillos and Villa Luisa Sevilla were finalised for the different events.”


The haldi and mehndi

The pre-wedding ceremonies were held at Hacienda El Vizir. It’s a beautiful venue that’s designed as a modern recreation of a Moorish hacienda with picturesque gardens. Yoshan and Rishana’s haldi ceremony was held in the park. It was fun-filled celebration with a vibrant dress code, music, dancing and slathering turmeric on the couple. It was followed by the mehndi party. “It was designed as an Indian pre-wedding fiesta with delicious Spanish food. It turned into a crazy party.” The bride chose a pastel blue outfit and the groom wore a linen jacket for the casual ceremony.


The wedding

The bride wore a classic red lehenga for the big day, while the groom opted for a white kurta and bandi set. A beautifully restored 17th-century Spanish ranch that exudes the elegance of a bygone era and is surrounded by olive trees, Hacienda Molinillos was chosen for the main wedding ceremony and post-wedding dinner. Rishana had heart-warming bridal entry and the groom arrived on a horse and carriage, “which is very Seville style. The beauty of this couple was that from the inside-out they exuded love and happiness, and this was the wow factor for us.” A bucking bronco made the guests laugh and play into the night after the ceremony. And melodious tunes by a superb Spanish band led by Jesús Gómez Gómez serenaded the guests.”


The reception

The wedding reception on the next day concluded the celebrations. “It was held at Villa Luisa Sevilla. It is a historic private home which a very special, hidden gem right in the heart of Seville. We planned an elegant evening with a delicious sit-down meal. The couple and their guests partied in to the early hours.”
