Former Bigg Boss contestant and Bollywood actress, Gauahar Khan tied the knot with Zaid Darbar tied on 25th of December 2020. The couple had been dating for a few months before they decided to join hands in marriage and opted to keep their wedding celebrations intimate yet grand.
Gauahar Khan has always been idolized by many around the world for her fashion sense – combining wardrobe staples with statement pieces. From Indian couture to highly glamorous western wear the Bollywood beauty can slay any look. Her wedding ensembles were no different!
To kick start the celebrations and build excitement amongst her fans, Gauahar announced her wedding with a dreamy pre-wedding shoot. A lehenga in vibrant colours, and a heartwarming smile proved that she was truly happy. Zaid complimented her in a white kurta set with a printed Nehru Jacket, looking extremely dapper.
While wedding fashion has taken a back seat this year, she remained on point. Choosing a classic colour palette, her wardrobe compromised of pieces that were high-fashion yet comfortable.
The #GaZa celebrations kick started with the Chiksa ceremony - an equivalent of the Haldi ceremony. The ceremony is primarily conducted to ward off evil eye from the bride and groom. Much like the occasion, the couples co-ordinated outfits were bright and uplifting. Opting for a hopeful colour, Yellow (also, one of the trending colours for 2021), both of them radiated only positivity.
Following the Chiksa was the Mehendi ceremony, a daytime function. And much like most brides, Gauahar picked out ensembles in stunning shades of yellow.
For her own mehendi application, she chose an understated yellow suit gifted to her by her brother. She took to instagram to express her heartfelt emotions for her beloved brother who was unable to attend the wedding. While posing Gauahar was caught being goofy, proving she’s the ultimate bridechilla.
For the final mehendi ceremony, floral jewellery complimented her mirror work mustard blouse and beige lehenga. A winning colour combination for any day event. And going a step further, she is undoubtedly giving the colour of the year a major nod with her wedding wear wardrobe. Moving away from the traditional zardozi and heavy lehengas, she chose to ensure maximum comfort. A lightweight lehenga that didn’t weigh her down was her preference.
Complimenting her fashion, was the suave groom in a crisp white kurta with a delicately embellished Nehru jacket in the same shade.
Continuing the celebration into the night, her fashion took a 180-degree turn. A fully embroidered sharara set in black with threadwork added the much-needed pop of colour. Opting for a traditional look, her subtle make-up look allowed her beauty to truly shine. A statement neckpiece and matching earrings completed the look perfectly. Adding more colour was the groom himself who chose a bottle green kurta.
The intimate Nikah ceremony look was a definitive winner for us. Pristine white outfits added grace, poise and understated elegance. With beautiful Pakistani embroidered and intricated detailing, Gauahar looked straight out of a fairytale. Her statement making polki set with pearls and a touch of pastel green worked as a finishing touch. Zaid also looked 10/10 in an ethereal white embellished sherwani.
To wind up the celebrations, the couple hosted a lavish wedding reception in Mumbai. A stark contrast from the understated outfits, the bride picked a bold Gold and Maroon Manish Malhotra lehenga in velvet. The highlight of the outfit was the dupatta draped as a long flowy veil. The groom complemented her in a black and gold sherwani paired with a matching shawl.
While the wedding looks were lightweight and comfortable, the reception looks were far more experimental and dramatic making it a refreshing change.
Post the wedding shenanigans, the couple resorted to a pair of comfy tracks with matching t-shirts printed with the words hubby and wifey. Isn’t that just adorable? The newlyweds are surely setting couple goals!
