2020 and 2021 have been the year of intimate weddings, while some chose to postpone their celebrations, others went ahead with small-scale weddings, including a number of Bollywood celebrities. After actors like Kajal Aggarwal, Varun Dhawan and Rana Daggubati got married amidst the pandemic, Yami Gautam is the newest actor to tie the knot. On June 4, 2021, she got married to Uri: The Surgical Strike film’s director, Aditya Dhar in an intimate wedding ceremony. The actor took to Instagram to share a beautiful couple picture and announced the news with a post captioned, "With the blessings of our family, we have tied the knot in an intimate wedding ceremony today. Being very private people, we celebrated this joyous occasion with our immediate family. As we embark on the journey of love and friendship, we seek all your blessings and good wishes."
For her bridal outfit, the actor adopted a less is more approach. In an exclusive interview for Khush Wedding’s cover story in 2018, Gautam spoke about her dream wedding outfit. "I can’t say the designer; there are so many I love! It will be red—the ultimate bridal hue." Turning her dreams into reality she picked a gorgeous red Benarasi sari for her nuptials and teamed it with gold jewellery to give it a traditional look. She also mentioned, "My Nani had a huge traditional-looking nath made when my cousins and I were teenagers, so it will be the centrepiece of my bridal look. I haven’t got my nose pierced, so I’ll have to do that just before the wedding." Dolling up the look further was a statement maang tikka and a choker teamed with a long gold haar, along with minimal makeup with an emphasis on well-defined eyes. Dhar opted for a white embellished sherwani with a safa featuring a red border that complemented the bride’s red sari.
She also spilled the beans on what the rest of the day would look like, "I’m very traditional when it comes to certain things. I’d want to perform all the same rituals my parents did on their wedding day; that’s very important to me. No shortcuts, no updates, no skipping ceremonies. I want to do everything right," Gautam had revealed. Staying true to her words, the wedding was a traditional affair. The nuptial celebrations included a mehndi, haldi, choora and pheras.

For the mehndi, Gautam picked an orange kurta set. A pair of gold earrings and red lipstick completed her look. The actor chose to embrace her natural beauty and comfort on her haldi by opting for a simple suit in yellow with a red dupatta. Adding immensely to the look was the flower jewellery and phulkari dupatta. Gautam was gleaming with happiness and was spotted enjoying every moment of the celebrations.
The choora ceremony
Flaunting her kaleeras and her Nani’s nose ring, she stuck to the classic hue red for her choora ceremony and pooja that followed. Her elegant looks truly made her glow—as they say if you're happy, it shows!
Finally, for the reception night, she embraced her new role as a wife with pride and showcased her sindoor to signify the next phase of her life. Another red silk sari was her choice for the celebrations.
