The 2024 Met Gala theme, ‘Sleeping Beauties’ was paired with an even dreamier dress code: ‘Garden of Time’. From Zendaya to Jennifer Lopez, A-list celebrities dressed to the nines and made their way to the steps. Alia Bhatt floated onto the red carpet looking like an Indian princess. The actress elevated floral flair by going all-out with an intricately handcrafted sari and a blouse studded with real gems by Sabyasachi. Her custom mint-green creation featured a 23-foot-long train detailed with florals delicately hand-embroidered using silk floss, glass beading and semi-precious gemstones. We tapped in on celebrity makeup artist Ganga to share a step-by-step guide, with her product recommendations. “Alia’s lit-from-within makeup is my signature bridal beauty look. • First and foremost will be skin prep. What’s most important with any kind of makeup is that the skin should look super fresh and healthy. Start by cleansing the face with a hydrating wash that doesn’t strip the skin off its moisture.

• Prep with a good serum and moisturiser, such as The Concentrate serum and Crème de la Mer by La Mer. This combination will hydrate without making the face look greasy. I would then spritz the face with Too Faced Hangover 3 in 1 Replenishing Primer & Setting Spray.

• Then, I contour the face before foundation based on the features. This basically would allow shaping the face, while giving it a natural finish as you can see in Alia’s look. I like the Fenty Beauty Match Stix Contour Skinstick in a cool tone.

• For the eyes, I would go with brown, natural tones. Makeup By Mario’s Master Mattes® Eyeshadow Palette: The Original is an incredible choice, with a range of nudes that are perfect to dust all over the lids. I would add a brown kajal liner and around the lash line for some definition and texture. Charlotte Tilbury Rock 'N' Kohl - Barbarella Brown will not disappoint. A waterproof black mascara, such as Lancôme Hypnôse Drama Mascara, for the finishing touch. I would probably add some individual lashes to fill in some gaps.
