It’s a thought that’s kept thousands of brides-to-be across the world awake at night; “What should I wear on my wedding day?” Granted, it’s pretty high up there on the list of First World Problems, but on a day when all eyes will be firmly fixed on you from the second you rise until you wave off the last of your guests after the evening reception, it’s understandable that searching for your dream bridal gown, or gowns, could become a source of major angst.
What you need is a bridalwear designer you can trust. Someone with years of experience under their measuring tape who can suggest, guide and create a wedding ensemble you won’t ever want to take off.
Brocade London, an established bridalwear fashion house on Ilford Lane, east London, is one such designer. The boutique offers a medley of casual and occasion wear collections but really shines with its ornately decorated bridal wear offering. We sat down with owner and designer Sarah Sohail to discuss all things Brocade and bridal.
Tell us about Brocade’s bridal collections
We provide a wide variety of Pakistani and Indian styles. Each piece is designed with the utmost care and attention to detail. We employ a combination of colours, cuts and styles in rich fabrics, to compliment all types of body shapes and sizes. We want Brocade brides to be thrilled with their Big Day outfit, so we offer a bespoke design service, which let’s us create a custom-made outfit to ensure a perfect fit. A Brocade bride should feel and look beautiful on her Big Day.
What are your bestsellers?
It changes from season to season, but the current hot seller is our gorgeous one-piece gown with extended back tails – at one point our waiting list for it was more than twelve months! While brides love the modern collections we offer, traditional looks are always very popular amongst Asian brides, so our long straight-cut shirt paired with a Brocade skirt is doing exceptionally well too.
What’s new this season?
The Brocade design team has worked incredibly hard creating two bridal collections for the summer, each offering contrasting looks. Each line is unique in its own way, allowing brides to discover for themselves which they prefer. We can tweak the designs until it’s something they can picture themselves saying ‘I Do’ in. And while the designs may vary, the one thing that remains constant is our dedication to quality.
Do you stock bridal accessories?
We’re in the process of designing a unique range of bespoke bridal accessories, which will include tika and jhoomer sets, mathapattis, handcrafted necklaces, chokers, and statement earrings which can all be customised to coordinate with Brocade outfits, allowing brides to find everything they need for their look under one roof. The accessories will be out very soon, so watch this space!
Do you have anything for younger guests?
Offering a made-to-measure service enables us to design an outfit for customers of all ages - from tiny tots to teenagers. We take care to provide the same quality and care as adult size customers.
Partywear
The arrival of summer heralds the beginning of a season of outdoor weddings. Brocade London has decided to centre their summer collections around bold and beautiful brights and sweet shop pastel shades, finished with traditional intricate embroidery and beadwork, allowing you to celebrate in sensational style. Both ranges are guaranteed to look absolutely stunning for those attending or having an outdoor wedding.
Brocade London can turnaround a dress or gown from 4-12 weeks after it has been commissioned, depending on the design and decoration chosen.

Bridalwear
Brides are a huge proportion of our client base, so we make sure we treat each one like royalty starting with a bridal design consultation in our Bridal Suite to ensure an interruption-free session. The consultation is helpful in determining which styles, cuts and colours compliment certain shapes, sizes and skin tones.
Brocade also has an in-house tailoring service to adjust the design after fittings to make sure your outfit fits like a glove.
