Well established as the go-to label for luxe bridal couture, Sabyasachi’s SS18 collection An Endless Summer is a refreshing departure from his signature style. Presented to global audiences via Instagram, the new designs are split into three distinct themes; florals, ivory and gold, and ultra brights.
We’re rather taken with the latter, a playful update on classic bridal that stays true to the brand; think joyful, fluorescent hues painted with floral prints and bold stripes. It’s not all change at the Sabya atelier; the floral print saris will appease traditionalists while the ivory and gold capsule is a luxe revision on the quintessential Sabyasachi bride. Lighter, brighter, better than ever.
Le Club de Calcutta
Sabyasachi’s bridal collection Le Club de Calcutta is the king of couture’s latest gift to brides-to-be everywhere. The collection has the air of decadent turn-of-the-century parties with Parisian and Calcuttan influences.
As Sabyasachi himself puts it, this is a look of “unapologetic glamour and hedonistic style.” Think sequins, gilded details, Florentine gold lace and exquisite bead fringing on capelets, lehenga trims and near-sheer saris, perfect for eveningwear or multi-cultural weddings.
The darker black looks are designed with the power-dressing bride in mind; high necked crop blouses, zardosi, crystal and pearl details and the new military Bengal tiger belt.
