Sonam and Paras Modi, the driving force behind SVA, are known for heritage creations inspired by the Mughal empire as well as the Mediterranean. They spoke to us about what the new season holds.

The new SS18 collection
DAHLIA picks up elements and motifs from the bageechas and backwaters of Kerala and merges it beautifully to create bespoke pieces and occasional hexagonal weaves for our SS18 collection.

Raw silk, silks, Chanderi silks and Oraganza dominate this collection. Georgette and net form a juxtaposition between off-white hues. Intricate motifs such as orchids, cane weaves and jaali patterns are translated onto outfits with elaborate gold hand embroidery techniques and prints. Sunset orange, salmon pink, forest green and desert-sand beige dominate this season’s hues.
Detailed silhouettes are brought to focus which makes this collection apt for a spring/summer soiree, wedding or cocktail. For brides we have embellished jackets, intricate lehengas teamed with waistcoats, handcrafted saris with experimental drapes. From intricate floral motifs juxtaposed with jaal embroidery, DAHLIA brings in contemporary silhouettes with a modern twist for SVA this resort couture season.

Which bridal trends excite you?
Sheer undoubtedly is a big trend this season and we incorporated this by by ways of layering. Organza, and tulle drapes will be seen extensively, adding a whimsical touch to the ensembles.

Brides all over the world are opting for a minimalistic approach. Apart from being at their fashionable best, comfort is an important factor for brides today. Brides in India might prefer traditional colours for their big day such as shades of crimson and reds, however British brides may choose to adorn themselves in different hues based on the season. For example during the summer they could pick pastels and during winter, deep shades of greens and blues dominate their wedding attire.

The SVA Bride
“She’s traditional yet yearns for a sartorial contemporary element. Our bridal ensembles are a perfect juxtaposition of traditional motifs, modern prints and contemporary silhouettes - perfect for the brides of today.”
