Blending Turkish elements with riches from the Balkans, it was a testimony of opulence. With this line, the couturier expanded his Ottoman-inspired collection with ‘Rumeli’, adding a lot of glamour to the fashion week. The collection which he described as “a piece of history so special that it inspires pieces of art today” presented an amalgamation of rich fabrics, intricate detailing and age-old embroideries. A celebration of royalty and glory, 'Rumeli' is a showcase of garments that dictate timeless style. The Rumeli Festive collection presents classic embroideries, rich fabrics, intricate details, and exquisite prints. Featuring a dark colour palette ranging from maroon, navy blue and black to olive green and silver, the creations are glamorous at once and traditional. What’s striking is how the designer has combined exquisite embroidery with geometrical patterns to bring the creations to life. Incorporating a contemporary and feminine flair to the ensemble are the cinch waist belts, which appear to be a common thread in the collection.
Actor Mrunal Thakur turned muse for JJ Valaya’s digital showcase at the FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week, Day 1 finale show. The star donned an intricately embroidered red and gold lehenga with a blouse that featured a plunging neckline. Combining traditional Indian techniques, the creation was the perfect bridal creation. The belt added a modern touch while accentuating the waistline to perfection. Further, adding glamour to the look was the red floral head gear and jewels encrusted with kundan and rubies. Thakur surely looked straight out of a fairy-tale in the ensemble.
