Prisha Patel married Rishi. She says: "Rishi used a certain amount of deception to propose to me. He asked me to meet him at a London grill restaurant for dinner (I’m a vegetarian, so that annoyed me straight away) and when I arrived he was running late. Little did I know he had coerced the restaurant and bar staff to lie and take me to a private room, where he was waiting to ask me to be his wife!

After the engagement came the wedding planning. We knew we couldn’t get away with having an intimate affair, as we were the first in both our families to get married. A massive Indian wedding was the only kind of celebration we were ever going to have!

We settled on holding the wedding in Birmingham, where I grew up and where my parents still live. We wanted the same venue for both the Indian wedding in the morning and the reception in the evening so we had to find something large enough for 550 guests."

"We finally found the perfect place; the National Motorcycle Museum. As soon as I saw the venue, I knew that it was The One. Once the date was secured and the venue booked, everything else just fell into place. Despite visiting several wedding shows and seeing hundreds of wedding décor specialists, we decided to go with my good friend, Sonny from Saharan Occasions, to handle the décor.

Everything was crystal, from the centrepieces, to a spectacular crystal mandap - even the walkways and our head table! Our gorgeous four-tiered ivory cake, with silver finishing, took centre-stage on a huge glass cake table.

As Sanjay Foods did such a fantastic job catering our engagement party, we decided to have them cater our reception as well. We had a traditional Gujarati meal of our ceremony and a 3-course evening meal. They also made impressive ice sculptures especially for our wedding, demonstrating their all-round service."

We met a lot of photographers before deciding to book Gurvir Johal. Rishi and I clicked from the moment we met him and had a brilliant time at our pre-wedding shoot. We knew we could trust him to record the most magical moment of our lives in a timeless way.

Our wedding was so full of love and good vibes from all our lovely friends and family, and that feeling is something that will stay with us for the rest of our lives.

THE WARDROBE

Outfit: A unique piece designed by Prisha and made by Kajal Couture in London. The evening dress was by Sherri Hill and flown in especially from America.

Jewellery: a luxurious jewellery set from Kyle’s Collection.

Shoes: Prisha decided to add extra glamour with a pair of Jimmy Choo heels.

HMUA: Anu Sharma prepared Prisha for her wedding day, creating a subtle look for the evening and a more traditional look for the religious ceremony.
