Yes! It's September and that means it's the month of fashion. Fashion week season has kicked off with the Milan Fashion Week that just drew to a close. After powering through London, New York, and Milan, it's all set to hit Paris in the next few days. And one thing we love about fashion weeks is that it looks forward, which means decoding the scene stealing looks spotted on the runway. This year was special because it's after a break of over a year (due to COVID-19) that physical fashion weeks have come back to existence. That means double the fun, triple the excitement and a whole lot of mayhem in the world of fashion and beauty.
There's no denying the plethora of wardrobe inspiration options but for a moment, let's take a step away from fashion and look at some of the standout beauty looks. Last year peachy tones and the nude makeup look gained prominence and graphic eyeliners became a major trend thanks to face masks. This year the runway was filled with beauty looks that not only look good on the runway but are also very wearable off the runway.
From pastel cheekbones and breezy summer hairstyles, there's been a theme of throwback nostalgia on the runway.
Giving the traditional smokey eyes a new iteration, 80s rock and 90-s grunge also made an appearance. Think lips in deep stain and a smudged black liner. However, smokey eyes have been given a nod for day time and will become a spring staple.
Bright eye looks with graphic liner in a pop of colour or inverted wing designs seemed to be a favourite. Versace even amped up the colour play by adding layers of different hues up to the browbone on Dua Lipa. While some play with the eyelids others got experimental with the lower lash line. Incorporating colour into eye looks seems to be a major trend for the season.
Moving away from the idea of thick brows, this season saw the return of thin eyebrow with eye looks in shades of brown and glossy brown lips. Dramatic flushes of lour on the cheeks ranged from bright orange to peachy pinks. Peter Philips took us by storm with the grand look he created for Fendi. It's safe to say that the runway was filled with natural skin finishes with fresh sheen and high shine cheekbones and a well framed face.
Hairstyles varied from vintage blow dries to natural fresh-from-the-shower looks, windswept hair and plenty of plaits.
Keeping it playful spotted at the Moschino show were coloured beaded braids. Naeem Khan stuck to the basics and showcased the true essence of florals for spring with statement flowers used on buns and ponytails.
Bringing back vintage styles, many designers even paid homage to hairstyles like the ‘60s beehives, bouffants, ’70s bowl bobs and vintage blow dries.
Question is which trend are you leaning towards?
