For far too long, the idea of an Indian bride was restricted with high-as-a-hill hairdos and caked-on bright foundations. But the modern bride is not one you can confine to cliches. Vithya Visvendra of Vithya Hair and Makeup agrees that the times have changes and the rules are constantly being altered. “With access to the Internet and social media, I find that there is a huge Western influence. Makeup is not too bold and colourful anymore, rather simple, elegant and classy,” the renowned artist explains.
With a portfolio featuring several celebrities including South Indian movie star Nayanthara, the makeup artist is also trying to “set myself apart by trying to create something natural. Skin looking like skin is important to me. I strive to emphasise on every bride’s features.” Vithya doesn’t shy away from adding some modern touches and techniques she has mastered at London College of Fashion.
“Since the start of my career over ten years ago, I have stayed true to my style that’s typically minimal, natural, but maybe a bold lip colour. Contouring and highlighting is still regarded as something new for my brides. They try and avoid it, but I manage to find a mid-path that looks timeless and yet not dated,” Vithya discloses. “Glowing, radiant skin, laminated looking brows, and fuller lashes are the trends to watch out for.”For more information, visit:Vithya Hair and Makeupwww.VithyaHairAndMakeup.com Instagram: @Vithya_Visvendra
