Contouring is a technique used by makeup artists for video, photography and epic events – such as your wedding day! It’s all about illusion, using dark products such as bronzer to push back parts of the face and lighter tones to highlight areas such as the cheek and brow bones. The final effect should make your face appear sculpted and balanced while enhancing your best features.Squeaky clean skin is the first step to long-lasting makeup, so get rid of daily grime by preparing skin with a cleanse, tone and moisturise from Sarah Artistry. For an even cleaner ‘blank canvas’, exfoliate skin with a scrub before prepping the skin. Next, pat Sarah Artistry Camera Ready primer onto skin to create a smooth, even base. Start by adding light tones, such as Sarah Artistry Foundation or Sarah Artistry Highlighter along the bridge of the nose, under the orbital bone and the tip of the nose, if you prefer. Also dot highlighter on the very top of the cheekbones to accentuate the area and increase light around your eyes. Now add dark tones to the edges of your forehead, temples and chin, adjusting for your facial structure. Oval faces should concentrate more on the chin and forehead to help re-proportion the face, while those with round faces should focus on the cheek hollow to make their face appear more streamlined. First-time contouring? Use liquid products as they make for easier blending.Blending is the key, so use a makeup sponge or the Sarah Artistry Stippling brush to blur the lines between the darker and lighter tones on your face. The Sarah Artistry Stippling brush is designed to be used in multiple ways and works with both liquid and powder consistencies.Did we mention that blending is key to contouring? Go over your face again using the Sarah Artistry Stippling brush to ensure all the boundaries between light and dark are blurred to invisibility. The last thing you want is a beige tidemark along your jawline! Finish with a wash of Sarah Artistry blusher, which comes in Sunkissed, Terracotta and Bridal Pink using the Sarah Artistry Stippling brush, sweeping the colour from the apple of your cheek out towards the temples.Find out more online:www.sarahartistry.com
