Want a wedding fragrance that’s a world away from anything else? Then head to Tom Ford’s beauty boutique in London’s Covent Garden – the first in the world. It showcases the brand’s collection of makeup, skincare and fragrance for men and women in a futuristic-looking light and layered grey glass setting. The Private Blend Room, where wedding fragrance consultations are hosted, is tucked below ground level in a compact bunker filled with 250ml size parfums all neatly lined up in eight fragrance categories. The parfums span from the lightest on the left to the heaviest and richest scents on the right, starting with Eau Fresh a range inspired by the designer’s dreamy sojourns on the Italian riviera (Sicilian lemon is the unifier). Then it’s onto florals of which there are only two: Jasmine Rouge (a must-sniff for anyone having a proper Desi wedding), and Cafe Rose, a seductive floral. Next is Vert, an earthy collection with notes of pine and tree sap. Followed by Musk, Leather, Orientals, Tobacco and the Wood (oud) categories.
Consultations are complimentary and last a neat half an hour, making them perfect for slotting in between shopping expeditions. All Tom Ford parfums are gender neutral so you can both wear the same scent for the nuptials if you like. As every scent varies from person to person, you’ll end up wearing a nuanced version of the parfum. Tom Ford also recommends ‘fragrance styling’, where you accessorise a deep scent with a lighter one over the top. Parfums can also be paired to lip colours too if you want the full Ford effect. The Private Blend Room shares space with a private beauty room and a men’s grooming space so you can coordinate your entire bridal beauty look under one roof.
If you’re not familiar with Tom Ford parfums, you can get up to speed on the ground floor in another blend space that features an interactive table. This relays info, ingredients and the inspo behind each parfum. 100ml £230, 250ml £380.
