From Reynu Tandon and Varun Bahl, to Falguni Shane Peacock's collection, Day 5 of the second digital edition of FDCI's India Couture Week was a visual treat. The opening show ‘Zuri’ by Reynu Tandon was a celebration of “Whimsical Surrealism”. Deriving inspiration from the abundance of creativity in nature, the garments were feminine. From heavily Swarovski embellished greens, nudes and pinks, the pieces included rich classic pieces like tone-on-tone lehengas, anarkalis, traditional saris, sharara and gharara, perfect for all wedding and pre-wedding celebrations. "I am super ecstatic to launch my AW Collection Zuri bringing beautiful together pastel colours and embroideries with a plush and fresh vibe. The silhouette is crafted keeping in mind all generations making the collection versatile yet trendy. I want my brides to look elegant maintain the old world wedding charm in a contemporary way,” adds Tandon.
Adding a modern touch to bridal wear was Varun Bahl's collection 'Memory/Mosaic'. The collection redefines how haute couture is worn, and what it means to today’s informed and style-conscious consumer. Experimenting with the idea of upcycling, while creating fresh hand-embellished designs from the designers past collections, the garments are an ode to the timeless journey of couture and its ever-evolving forms. Hues of black, red, ivory, sage green, blushing pink, along with his signature floral-inspired print are prominent in the collection. Bohemian, with a hint of glamour, define the modern collection.
To close the day, Falguni Shane Peacock brought their larger-than-life couture and trails to the runway. Celebrating bridal wear and love, ‘Love is,’ is inspired by the monument of love, Taj Mahal. The details of the collection seek to translate the visionary saga of love by borrowing from the beauty of Taj Mahal. From transcribing the innumerable motifs of the architectural gem on ensembles to varnishing them with refined adornments of Swarovski crystals, pearls, mirrors, sequins and beads. The collection is a medley of colours that scale from mellow muted tones such as baked beige and pearl ivory, to pastels like the rose pink and mint green, even extending to deeper tones like emerald green, royal purple, turquoise and valiant poppy. The cuts are traditional yet au courant, think trailed lehenga, fitted-and-flared silhouettes, and ball gown-style Lehengas that make for a befitting wedding day bridal trousseau.
Taking our breath away was Shraddha Kapoor who turned showstopper for the designer duo. Looking charismatic in a red lehenga with intricate embroidery, floral motifs and geometric details, it was adorned with beads, crystals and sequins.
