Think contemporary silhouettes, avant-garde design aesthetics and a touch of modern glamour, Day 6 at the second edition of FDCI's India Couture Week featured a gamut of breath-taking couture. Setting the pace for the day was Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna's debut showcase 'Alchemize'  inspired by luminescent, whimsically irregular, and rigorously aspirational masterworks from their past. Staying true to their design aesthetic, they showcased garments with impeccable fit and careful construction. Oozing opulence, their collection features rich embellished fabrics like velvet, duchesse satin, and chiffon in a harmonious palette of wine, grey, sapphire, and with tonal arabesques or floral embroideries. The dresses looked as if immersed in gleaming crystals, while the tuxedos were sharp and detailed with modern embroideries and made with heritage techniques. Cut work was a command thread stropped in the collection. Luxury was seamlessly blended with modern tailored silhouettes.

Tarun Tahiliani is known for his traditional Indian wear and timeless silhouettes. Showcasing his new collection 'Artisanal Couture'  the pieces embody his brand’s signature ‘India Modern’ design aesthetic. Featuring six capsule collections, Chikankari, Pichwai, Rangrez, Cocktail Goddess, Pakeezagi and Bridal, the designer played with different shapes and cuts of blouses. Experimenting with embellishments and textures in mirror jadau work, jaalis, gota patti, pearls, sequins, cut dana and lifted resham flowers, along with embroideries such as aari, zardozi, dori embroidery. Additionally, the collection features Tahiliani’s signature draped garments, which have become one of the mainstays of the studio because of the designer's love for the traditional draping techniques, which have now taken it to new heights, with structured draping that can be worn with ease of a zipper. With his ICW 2021 couture collection, the designer is providing a variety of beautiful designs that women can choose from.

After designing Rhea Kapoor's wedding ensemble, Anamika Khanna showcased her collection at the ICW 2021. This collection is an emotion, a way of rejoicing beauty. It is an acceptance of what is, and a celebration of what we are given. This way we pay homage to the most intricate crafts of India, take from there, the spirit of what was and what will be for eternity. The key element was undoubtedly the pearl veil. Vibrant hues and contemporary silhouettes added a feminine flair to the bridal wear, whereas the kurta with wide-legged pants was a refreshing change for grooms wear.
