Fantastic flavours
?“The most popular is our Ferrero Rocher Mocha and Chocolate & Salted Caramel. Cinnamon & Caramel is another bestseller at Cake Boulevard. Our new star flavour that has shone bright of late is Rose & Pistachio.”
Colour story
“Couples who prefer a timeless piece should request a white cake with flowers to match the decor. If you want the cake to be on-trend, embrace colour. Cakes in deep shades of ombré or solids including reds, pinks and even black should not be dismissed.”
Future trends
“The upcoming wedding season will see a wide spectrum of trends. We have seen an increase in the demand for contemporary cakes with textured abstract art in a multitude of colours. Such designs are best suited for rustic style decor, which has also made a comeback. The cut-through cake trend, which was due to peak in 2020, has also flowed into 2022. There is also a shift towards the classic tall tiered cake of 6 layers, adorned with white-on-white detailing. Add to this the unforgettable waterfall of floral cascading down the cake, only this time continuing over the table and draping down the height of the table. I always insist on a face-to-face first meeting to understand our clients’ style. Their input is crucial, and I aim to address all their ideas with a bespoke creation, whenever possible.”
Avant garde cake
“The OTT cake will always remain close to my heart. And with the return of large-format weddings, I suggest this style to complement the essence of a vast space. The OTT cake is considered dramatic by the sheer height of 10 tiers with a base width of at least 2.5ft. Detailing is also a large element, with each tier having delicate artwork and in excess of 1,000 handcrafted or fresh flowers. We recently crafted a 15-layer cake with lights and flowers!”
