While humbled by the highest accolades and awards received at international conventions, the real award for Zohaib Ali, is seeing the reaction, by newly weds, to the images he produces. The Londoner, has a well-stamped passport from countries where he’s photographed destination weddings, receiving international love for his work. Describing his style as “contemporary and editorial”, his wedding images have even featured in day-time television and newspapers worldwide.
Zohaib says: “I always felt as an outsider, that weddings lacked a fashionable approach, and I wanted to bring my own style to the industry, bringing a fashionable flare to a couples’ wedding story.” He always thought traditional wedding albums, like his own parents, were lacking a little something. “I would see family albums and wonder why everyone looked so still and at times, even lifeless!” From this thought, grew a successful, international brand.
The wow factor
“Over the past 12 months, I have been fortunate enough to travel around the globe for my work, and there’s one wedding that took place in Los Cabos, Mexico, that I’ll never forget. The groom at this wedding decided to jump out of a plane and parachute down into his own wedding! I’ll never forget the scenes as he was approaching in-land. I can’t say too much... but he’s a Hollywood-based actor, so that might explain the extreme entrance. Each year, I strictly take on a certain amount of weddings. Being selective helps clients know I am fully invested in their wedding from when they book me, to the final moments. By controlling how much I shoot, I can keep the highest level of service for each and every couple.”
Capturing memories
“I love each and every aspect of a wedding from portraits to the party. My favourite though, has to be the ceremony. It’s the only moment I get to photograph my clients up close without them realising I am there. It makes for the best, natural photographs. My secret to taking such wonderful photos, is capturing them in a perfect light setting.”
