Sudeley Castle

The Cotswolds are the very essence of the English countryside - all rolling hills and grassland, quaint villages and winding country lanes. Tucked into the lush greenery is Sudeley Castle & Gardens, a private castle that’s been named the ‘Most romantic place in the Cotswolds’. So where better to tie the knot than in this regal setting?

Is it a real castle?
Kings, Queens and scores of aristocracy have stayed at Sudeley Castle so it certainly has blue-blooded credentials. It’s also the final resting place of Katherine Parr, the last wife of King Henry VIII.

How many can we invite?
The Banqueting Hall and the Terrace Pavilion can seat up to 130 people and both enjoy breath-taking views of the Cotswold Hills. The lawns are prime space for larger parties, with marquees accommodating up to 500 loved ones. Meanwhile the gardens make the ideal venue for a spring time drinks reception, with every view a photo opportunity. Alternatively, for couples who picture a smaller, informal wedding, Chandos Hall, located in the cottages section, can hold up to 70 guests.

Can we have a religious ceremony?
Sudeley Castle welcomes couples of all faiths and allows a religious or non–religious blessing within the grounds. The civil ceremony can be in one of four room choices, from the historic to the informal.

Can we stay overnight?
Spare your guests the long drive home and stay at the Castle in one of 12 cottages which can accommodate 48 in total. Six more guests can make themselves home in the new Sudeley Castle Guest Cottage, a five-minute stroll from the Castle gatehouse.

Exclusive
Exclusive use of the venue depends on your date. Over summer, the castle and grounds are open to the public in the day but the gardens close at 5pm. However, the gardens are closed completely from November to March, giving you exclusive use of the Castle for no extra charge. If you wish, it’s possible to close the Castle for your wedding, on discussion.

The Ground
Sudeley Castle and Gardens are maintained throughout the year, providing a scenic backdrop to all your wedding photos. If you’re planning to make an entrance, helicopter landings are possible, by appointment.
