The Love Story
Nimisha Shah married Charles Thomas on 5th October 2019, and the couple initially met at a corporate event. She says: “Charles and I met in 2015 at the Henley Regatta in Henley Upon Thames. We spent the whole day together like it was a first date. Let’s just say no rowing was watched! In May 2018, Charles proposed on a boat at sunset, during an incredible island-hopping trip to the Philippines. Very romantic and unexpected!”

The Location
“As we both love Italian culture and food, we knew this was the perfect country to host a wedding with our nearest and dearest. We’re lucky the venue let us create our own spaces across the property. It was the first time they’d hosted an Indian wedding, so gave us free reign to be creative.  During the pre wedding events, our haldi ceremony was followed by fun, poolside mehendi party.”

The Wedding
“We wanted to keep the Mandap simple. The backdrop was a beautiful forest green, and we kept the colour scheme white blush and pink. We wanted the flowers, decor, and everything in-between to be beautiful. Our photographers captured the light beautifully and were extremely professional”  

The Look
“Our theme was understated elegance. The reception was outside on immaculate surroundings. We used white as a base, and created three long rectangle tables with a fourth head table. Off to the side we had a big dance floor by a huge oak tree covered with lights.”

The Speech
“It was important to address my parents and explain how incredibly hard they have worked to make sure my sister and I had everything, and also to address my new family for all their love and support.”

The Wedding Cake
“I rarely eat wedding cakes at friends’ weddings. However, Italian wedding cakes are truly exceptional and I knew I wanted a traditional wedding cake. Our caterers provided their amazing pastry chefs to create a beautiful mille-feuille. Charles and I were asked to frost the top of the case in icing sugar and it was covered in blackberries and raspberries. The best cake I’ve ever eaten!”
