What’s your signature style? “I’m from the school of ‘less is more’. My emphasis is on blending, contouring and highlighting to achieve camera-ready iconic looks.”And for hair? “BIG. The bigger, the better! Think red carpet meets vintage Hollywood glamour.”Has social media changed the way you reach brides? “Instagram makes it far easier for brides to compare artists these days. And it helps me keep up with the latest trends and styles.”What’s your take on 2017’s bridal beauty trends? “Brides have more than one ceremony so there’s more opportunity to indulge in all their wedding look dreams. We’ll see more Asian brides embrace the white wedding dress and the natural look, while traditional brides will get bolder with colours other than red. It means I can be more creative as a hair and make-up artist.”Finish this sentence; “If I wasn’t a makeup artist, I would...”? “...I honestly can’t imagine doing anything else! I’m so lucky I’ve been able to make my passion my career.”What’s your favourite Big Day moment?“I’m an old romantic so the first dance is my favourite. All eyes are on the happiest couple in the room. You truly feel their love.”
HEMA POORE'S 2017 BEAUTY TRENDSBrush up on the hottest bridal looks for the year aheadBE BOLD“Thanks to the incredible popularity of Instagram, you can now check out makeup looks from all over the world. One of my favourite looks come from Middle Eastern MUAs and 2017 is their year to shine, bridal beauty-wise. Eyes are my favourite feature, and the Arabian look is the perfect way to accentuate them. They’re bold but elegant and make a real statement - perfect for your traditional Big Day look.”LESS IS MORE“Understated elegance is timeless. This minimal look full of nudes and hints of metallic is perfect for brides who want an enhanced natural look. It works well whether you’re planning a traditional or contemporary wedding.”COUTURE HAIR“A bespoke high-end look isn’t just for bridalwear. This year, I feel brides will head towards sculptural looks for their hair, like this rose-inspired look, especially when it comes to their registry ceremonies. It makes sense to amp up your hair game if you’re planning to go minimal with your makeup.”REGENCY ERA HAIR“Although I’m immersed in Indian culture, I’ve also always loved classical English literature, like Pride and Prejudice (but I loved Gurinder Chadha’s Bride and Prejudice with Aishwarya Rai more, obvs!) So I’m thrilled to see more brides opting for Regency-esque updos that combine vintage styles with pared back makeup. It’s versatile for both traditional and modern weddings.”HEMA POOREMidlands based, nationwide cover +44(0)7429 253 856 www.hemapoore.com
