It’s every bride’s dream to look her gorgeous best on her wedding day, and rightly so. While couture plays a crucial role, you can’t underestimate the power of the right makeup look to complement the ensemble. With a plethora of options out there, it can often be overwhelming to find the right makeup artist for you. But it’s essential to keep in mind a few factors while finalizing on your artist. For instance, ensuring your make-up artist understands your personal needs and face-type is pivotal.
The answer to the perfect bridal glow starts with healthy skin, and celebrity make-up artist Ganga goes the extra mile to make every bride achieve exactly this with a personal touch. She goes beyond her scope of just applying makeup by making every bride feel comfortable and at ease to sail through the mayhem that comes along with the big day. Making the experience a pleasant journey, here are five things that Ganga does differently to curate the experience for each bride.
Bridal Advice Booklet
Each bride receives a bridal advice booklet from Ganga. A nine-page guide, it contains bridal makeup advice that Ganga has put together for every bride, drawing from her 14 years of experience in the industry. It's not just about makeup and hair but also about what brides need to do during the wedding week to get prepped for the big day, what to keep in their wedding handbag, and reminders on the beauty treatments to get done before the D-day for healthy looking skin and that natural glow.
One-on-One Bespoke Skincare Tutorial
For Ganga, “Skincare comes first, makeup second. It’s important to create a good foundation in the lead up to the celebrations. I try to understand what type of skin the bride has to proceed. I create a bespoke plan for each of my brides. But on a general basis, you should have a good morning and nighttime regimen that includes cleanser, toner, serum and moisturiser,” she tells us. She also goes through a 30 minute tutorial on how to apply the products, while disclosing the correct order of application. The aim of the process is to help brides ensure their skin looks healthy for the big day.
Styling advice
Couture and makeup go hand-in-hand, neither one is complete without the other. Ganga ensures each bride has a one-hour-long styling consultation included in their package, where the overall look is discussed keeping in mind hair, makeup, outfits and jewellery choices. Treating every bride like a friend she advises on what would look best on the bride.
Plan For The Wedding Morning
While the wedding day usually kick starts with a great deal of zest and excitement, it can often leave brides’ flustered. Ganga creates a timetable for the morning make-up followed by a photo op to ensure there are no delays.
Liaise with the bride
Understanding your bride and letting her be comfortable with you is a priority. It is only once you break the ice can you do justice to the makeup look. Throughout the process, Ganga pays attention to liaising with each bride to ensure they are comfortable seeking help with planning their look.
The Naturally Radiant Base
Instead of applying foundation with a brush, sponge or fingers, Ganga uses airbrush foundation that ensures for a natural, healthy looking complexion. “Airbrush foundation is my forte. The process includes customising the colour to get the exact colour match and gently spraying the foundation [using an airbrush machine] onto the skin in super-fine layers so that it leaves a smoother and more healthy complexion to the skin,” she adds. And, Bollywood’s diva Sonam Kapoor is one of her favourite muses for airbrush make-up!
All we can say is that going the extra mile and making any experience personalised is always a great feeling, and especially when it’s one of the most important days of your life.
