With the thriving portfolio of numerous real brides, henna artist Kavita shares her tried and tested methods. “Trust the process,” suggests the artist as step one to all her brides for a remarkable bridal mehndi stain. She recommends applying your mehndi 2 to 3 days before your wedding day to achieve the dark stain. Treat the mehndi paste just like a skincare product. Patch test it if you have never used it before and stay away from chemical-infused formulas. “Natural henna is always a green and earthy colour when applied. When checking for natural organic henna, this can be a good indicator."
Choose your mehndi outfit carefully and avoid elements such as long tassels and loose glitter that could potentially interfere with the mehndi before drying. “The drying process can vary depending on the environment in which mehndi is applied, but when it has dried completely, the henna turns into a dark brown/black colour.” Once it is dry, the mehndi will start to crumble off. Known that this is normal and “the stain under it is usually bright orange at this point. But don't stress and trust the process.”
“Aftercare is the time where heat, cloves and oils are key components to enhance your stain and avoiding water is very important. Nail and beauty treatments should be completed prior to mehndi application for this reason. Between 12 to 24 hours you will find your henna stain maturing and reaching darker hues of orange and brown. Keep warm avoiding contact with water and when followed correctly, you are left with a dark stain for your wedding day.”For more information, contact:KV MendhiEmail: Info@KVMendhi.comPhone: +44(0)7791 262 983Instagram: @KVMendhi
